Planning Consent Granted for Carnegie Mews development of Apartments & Offices at Donegall Road/Utility Street, Belfast

Full planning consent has been granted in March 2010 for a distinguished new development adjacent to the landmark Carnegie Library on Donegall Road, Belfast.

Located within Belfast City Centre and adjacent to the City Hospital train station & Hospital Campus, the development is sure to be of interest to health service professionals and students wanting to live near to the Hospital and the University and to office users with Hospital & University links who need easy Motorway and City Centre access.

The Carnegie Mews development will provide 34 residential units in a mix of Studio, one, two & three bedroom units over 5 storeys, and the office suites range in size from 350sq. ft. to 1050sq. ft. Parking on site is provided at basement level accessed by a car lift, which may be the first of its kind to be installed in Belfast.

Andrew Nesitt, Managing Director of Andrew Nesbitt architects said:

"I am excited about this approval and the prospect of this development proceeding. It will bring a range of living and work units to this convenient location and provide jobs and opportunities during construction and beyond".

The design was developed to relate sympathetically to the Carnegie Building, the well known Grade B1 Listed Library occupied by Andrew Nesbitt architects and fully restored to provide prestige offices in a traditional setting.

The new design has a blend of traditional materials in brickwork and stone integrated with contemporary finishes including metal roofing incorporating roof gardens.
