2 Queensberry Place
Friars Lane
Richmond
This Grade 2 Listed terrace dwelling forms part part of a group of 5 early 19th Century houses on the South East side of Friars Lane which leads from Richmond Green towards the Thames Riverside in this rich historical setting.
The property is within the Richmond Riverside Conservation Area and also the Richmond Town Centre Archaeological Priority Zone. The site lies within the environs of the former Richmond Palace.
Andrew Nesbitt architects were retained as conservation architects to assist local consultants Alistair Grills Associates to secure Full Planning Permission; Listed Building Consent & Conservation Area Consent, working closely with London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Conservation & Planning Officers.
Consent was achieved for internal alterations and restoration works to the historic building fabric as well as a new conservatory to be added at the rear to increase the living spaces at lower ground level.
This modest extension was planned in strict detail to minimise impact upon the existing and neighbouring properties and to comply with planning conditions.
The property has an unusual 'butterfly' roof configuration and is built of traditional London stock brickwork. The completed restoration provides a gracious home for the client and her young family.
