School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queens University of Belfast. 50 Elmwood Avenue, Belfast.

Academic study facilities for the lecturers and staff of the school created by restructuring an existing 4 storey Victorian terrace building in the Queen’s University Conservation Area and adding a substantial 3 storey extension at the rear. Careful space planning was required to optimize the provision of a suitable range of room sizes and to introduce new arrangements for escape routes and fire segregation. The project was completed to a tight timescale and budget which included consultation with the school during design stages, obtaining planning permission, statutory approvals, competitive tendering and construction all within 13 months from inception to completion.
